When I was at university I used to volunteer in my holidays for a charity called BRIDGE; it changed its name in recent years to Focus. BRIDGE ran community projects during term time, but the part I was involved in, was, as far as I was concerned, where the magic happened. The premise of the residential was to take away a diverse group of people and provide the conditions for them to forge positive relationships (within teams). It was hoped that everyone would grow in some way from the experience; it was a learning charity, if you like.
