Class Teaching Tips

I don’t claim to be an expert here, but these are some of the few observations I have made after working in a Read, Write Inc. school for the last year or so.  So. First things first.  Before you start with any phonics groups you need to find out where the children are at.  RWI is one of (I am assuming, I don’t claim any expert knowledge here!) many phonics based schemes available for schools to buy and helpfully provides a screening test in the teacher’s book.  Once you know where the children are, a task which is huge if you are checking an entire school, or much more manageable if you are just doing your own class, then you can think about where to start with the particular programme you are using.
