My BEd Primary Education Experience

From September 2014, computing will replace ICT and will now feature in the primary National Curriculum. This change highlights the level of importance the Government puts on the teaching of computing in the Primary years. The 21st Century is a vastly expanding technological world and learning about computing is now an essential part of children’s learning. As digital technologies are expanding and becoming more common in a school environment, our digital literacy sessions have been based around looking at apps to support the teaching of computing. There has been a vast increase in educational apps as the iPad has exploded onto the ‘teaching scene’. Apps have been created for all areas of computing (commonly in a game format) and have been hugely successful as the children are interested and engaged with them.
